After the change initiative was implemented, no assessment was carried out to see the “Lewet” initiative brought about the intended result. This study tried to identify the current dominant culture of TechnoServe as perceived by employees as well the congruence of the dominant culture with the six aspects of OCAI after the change initiative was implemented. The study employed quantitative research design, descriptive in nature, to answer the research questions. Second category of managers were involved in the survey. All of the questionnaires (22) distributed managers were completed and retuned back. OCAI standard questionnaire were utilized to collect data on current and preferred culture. The data obtained through the instrument were analyzed using graphs, charts and tables. According to the result, the current dominant TechnoServe culture was clan culture followed by hierarchy culture. The Clan Culture is a very friendly place to work where people share a lot of themselves. The dominant culture in the preferred situation was clan followed by adhocracy. It is also evident from the result that employees wanted to decrease the hierarchy culture and to increase the adhocracy culture. Before the change initiative was implemented, TechnoServe used to be a market culture as evidenced from the strategic document. It is evident form this study that the change initiative was successful as the culture transformed from market culture where the focus was external adaption to clan culture that emphasize internal integration, employee development and participation. Even if TechnoServe achieve its goal there is still cultural incongruence among the current dominant culture and the six aspects of OCAI that has to be addressed wisely. In effect, there is a mismatch between TechnoServe strategic orientation and the current culture. Therefore, there is a strong urgency from the management side to balance the strategic demand of the organization with the development needs of employees.Item Assessment Of Project Distress Prevention And Intervention Strategies In Construction Projects A Case Of Projects Contracted By Sunshine Construction Plc(Addis Ababa University, 2020-06) Tekalign, Yohannis; Mohammed, Abdurezak (PhD)The purpose of the study is to identify factors causing project distress and assess project distress prevention and intervention strategies in sunshine construction plc. The study also found specific issues in areas of dynamic risk management, scope management, and stakeholder management. And recommended several management tools to address these issues.Item Assessment of Project Management Maturity Level of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia(Addis Ababa University, 2017-06) Ejigu, Abraham; Mohammed, Abdurezak (PhD)In today’s dynamic and complex business environment, organizations find themselves in a need to manage projects whether they are project driven or non-project driven organizations. However the practice of project management has to be improved to realize its benefits. The main purpose of this research project was to assess the project management maturity level of PMO of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. The maturity assessment was based on a five level project management maturity model devised by PM Solutions. To assess the project management practice of the projects, nine knowledge areas were selected from the project management body of knowledge guide. The research employed both qualitative and quantitative research methods to realize the purpose of the study. Hence, a questionnaire was devised based on reviewed literature to assess the practice of the knowledge areas. The collected data was triangulated with data obtained from other secondary sources and analyzed. Based on the analysis, the researcher concluded that most of the knowledge areas were being practiced informally. The knowledge areas also have lower maturity levels. Relatively some of the knowledge areas have higher maturity as compared to the others. This difference was traced back to already established processes and practices the bank uses in its operations. But lack of proper integration of these practices with project management practice has lowered the maturity level of the project management practice at the bank. Developing and practicing project management knowledge areas; devising procedures; carefully collecting, compiling and disseminating lessons learned from past project implementation; creating project management standards; and creating awareness among all stakeholders towards projects; strengthening the PMO’s human and other resources; and providing trainings have been recommended as a means of improving project management practice and attaining higher maturityItem An Assessment Of Project Manegment Office Role And Type In Ethio Telecom(Addis Ababa University, 2017-06) Birhane, Alem; Mohammed, Abdurezak (PhD)The Project Management Office (PMO) has recently become a vital business unit in many organizations worldwide and is critical to the success of project management functions in many organizations.
