Item A Content Analysis of Children’s Tv Program: the Case of Addis Media Network (Addis Tv) “Yenege Frewoch” Children’s Show(Addis Ababa University, 2022-09) AbdilkidusTemam; Tenaw Terefe Asst. Prof.This study aims at analyzing of contents of children’s Tv program on Addis Media Network(Addis tv). Through critical observation and interviews with the producers, editors, and head ofthe show, an effort is made to understand the content of the AMN (Addis Tv) children's program.Content analysis and in-depthinterviews were employed to produce the necessary data for thestudy. In the context of this study, the qualitative content analysis of 10 children's programs 20%0f the total sample were selected through purposive sampling techniques which are broadcastedfrom January 2021 to December 2021 was done. In addition to this an in-depth interview heldwith the program editor, producer, and department head.The findings of the research verified thatAMN (Addis Tv) children’s Tv show has some constraints towards domestic oriented contentsspecially in the area of films, music, fairy tales and using puppets based stories. The outcomes ofthe individual in-depth interviews revealed that as there are some challenges which tackle themto produce a good children’s Tv show.Item Assessing Professional Practices and challenges in news production on Addis Media Network, with Specific Reference to Addis TV Amharic News(Addis Ababa University, 2022-05) Mesfin Girma; Hailu Gutema (PhD)This study critically analyzed the Journalistic professional practices in Addis Media Network Amharic news production focusing on Addis TV. The main objective of this research was to assess the level of professional practices of journalism in Addis Media Network, with specific reference to Addis TV Amharic news. In order to achieve the study's goal, both qualitative and quantitative content analyses, as well as an in-depth interview, were used to answer the research questions. By random sampling method, this research takes the news of three months (November, February and April, 2013 E.C) evening news full bulletins from the media house which is 266 news items. The quality of journalistic professional practices was determined by analyzing and interpreting the selected news items. Principles of journalism and social responsibility theory of the media were used as a theoretical framework of this study. The finding of this study shows that Addis TV news production has low professional quality. There are several problems regarding meeting the ethics, principles and elements of Journalism. Bias, subjectivity, dependency, reporting only success stories, not telling the truth, government interference, self-censorship, and lack of journalists‟ capacity are among the unprofessional attempts of the media house. This research has come up with the most significant recommendations for the television station, based on the findings, on how to strengthen the capacity of professional journalists, editors, and assess its news productions.Item Assessment of The Nature of News Content Analysis; The Case of Addis Media Network FM 96.3 Radio Prime Time (Ameshash Mae’d) News.(Addis Ababa University, 2022-05) Sebelewongel Mesfin; Tadesse Zinaye/Ast. Prof./This paper takes a critical analysis of news content; ‘Assessment of The Nature of News Content Analysis; The Case of Addis Media Network FM 96.3 Radio Prime Time (Ameshash Mae'd) News’. It focuses on how a variety of news content, geographical scenarios, news presentation format, news genre structure are entertained in AMN FM 96.3 news channels and how balanced and unbalanced is also analyzed. As a metropolitian media house AMN FM 96.3 has a core role to reflect diverse news presentation format, contents and news genres in fair principles. This is the valuable distinguishing feature for whether AMN FM 96.3 Radio Prime Time (Ameshash Mae’d) News’ is promoting news content or not. The thesis topic is equipped with salient literature related to the study. Social responsibility and Agenda setting theories are used as litmus for the theoretical framework of the study. As a research method mixed research method was used.Based on the sample size frame of three months 480 news onaired that 118 newsare selected with the probability Simple Random Sampling technique. Then Content category and descriptive analysis were used as an instrument of the study.The study finding revealed that AMN FM 96.3 Radio Prime Time (Ameshash Mae'd) News’ reports mainly political news & entertain readers presentation format in an uneven news genres. Additionally, Moreover, the study illustrated an imbalance in geographical news coverage throughout the sub cities and hard news issues.Based on the findings, recommendations are suggested on the news program content coverage improvement.Item Audience Satisfaction with Addis Media Network Addis Entertainment(Addis Ababa University, 2023-12) Betelhem Andargachew; Amanuel Gebiru (PhD)This study aimed to assess the satisfaction of Addis Media Network Addis entertainment program viewers. Public dissatisfaction with Addis media network has prompted this study to investigate audience satisfaction with the station's programming. To measure audience satisfaction levels, a survey employing Likert scales was used to gather the necessary data. Mean scores of satisfaction scales and respondent percentages were employed for data analysis and interpretation. The questions were examined in light of eleven factors that influence audience gratification. This study investigated the satisfaction level of viewers with an AMN Addis entertainment program using quantitative and qualitative methods like questionnaire and individual interviews. Researchers deliberately chose viewers and even interviewed the program's editors and producers. The findings show the program fails to meet viewers' expectations and doesn't align with their needs or preferences. Based on the findings, recommendations are suggested on how to improve the program to gratify the audiences and it is evident that AMN Addis entertainment programs fall short in meeting the expectations of their viewers by failing to produce and broadcast content that aligns with their preferences.Item Content Analysis of Investigative Journalism Programs in Addis Media Network(Amn); The Case of “Mirmera” Investigative Programs.(Addis Ababa University, 2022-07) Anwar Ahmed; Yohannes Shiferaw(PhD)This study was conducted to Content Analysis Of Investigative journalism programs in Addis Media Network (AMN); The case of “Mirmera” Investigative programs. to conduct that the researcher employed a qualitative approach, in depth interview and content analysis of five sample investigative programs broadcasted from January 2019 to January 2020 in AMN were used to the data and eight sample respondents were also used to collect data for the research. To inform the study Agenda setting, social responsibility and Framing theories are used as a theoretical frame work. The AMN “Mirmera” investigative program uses major sources from producer‟s observation, the community and the organization plan itself. Investigative programs of Addis Media Network (AMN) mainly focuses on issues of corruption, construction, land grabbing, home title deeds, and human right issues. But the programs lack depth in entertaining various societal issues; like religious and politics. The finding of the study indicated that government high ranking officials including AMN managers act in unorthodox way in prohibiting some sensitive and depth investigative programs to be aired because of sources. Poor service delivery, shortage of time to conduct an in-depth investigation, lack of skilled and well-trained human power, lack of budget, unnecessary interference from higher officials, lack of logistics, organizational pressure and absence of law protection for investigative journalists are the main challenges of investigative journalism Addis Media Network (AMN).
