Abstract
Currently in most organizations everything becomes digitalized and every organization is
influenced by this technological advancement. No organization is Free from this effect in one or
other ways. To cop up with this digital world. organizations propose to change or improve their
systems each time. But most software projects call be considered at least partial failures because
few projects meet all their cost. schedule. quality, or requirements. Failures (Ire rarely caused by
unsolved causes. The reason for software project failure can be technical or non technical.
Whatever the reason is, it can be preventable and avoidable through deep investigation and
understanding of factors that may lead to software project failure. The main objective of this
research is to identify factors that lead to software project failure. The research was conducted
based the data collected from different software companies and from organization that have
long history in IT and software usage which are found in Addis Ababa. Different literature were
also reviewed and used as sources of secondary data for the research. Although not a
comprehensive compilation of failure causes, the research has outlined several areas that may
demand future researchers attention.
