Abstract
Now a day, organizational communication is a complex and continuous Processes through
which organizational members create, maintains, and change the organization. Moreover,
organizational communication uses to motivate employees‟ and attain the goal of the
organization. The main objective of the present study was to investigate the extent of
effectiveness of organizational communication on employees‟ motivation in Ethiopian Police
University College. To this end, both qualitative and quantitative research methods were
employed in combination to realize the stated objective. Specifically, survey-questionnaire and
in-depth interviews were employed to collect the necessary data and information. Questionnaire
as a method of survey employed as a scientific instrument to obtain data from 138 selected
samples in Ethiopian police University College. Also, the researcher conducted semi-structured
interviews with 5 samples of top level managers to understand their ideas and views. Purposive
sampling method was employed to select samples for interviewees. Accordingly, for survey
questionnaires, the researcher used simple random sampling method. Based on the empirical
data, this research also found out that the organizational communication of employees‟
motivation is ineffective. For instance, 90% of questionnaires respondents claim that the
effectiveness of organizational communication and employees‟ motivation in the organization is
not effectively practiced and they rate disagree on the issues. According to the data, the
employees‟ who are currently working in the university college are not motivated by the
managers‟ communications. The effectiveness of organizational communication to be realized in
the University College, strategic managers are creating open system of communication and
motivation for their employees. The University College must practice feedback oriented
communication to the employees‟.
