dc.description.abstractThis research paper assesses the use of social media for PR activity in FDRE Ministry of Agriculture. This research paper follows case study approach by which mixed method, qualitative and quantitative methods of data analysis, is used. Based on this, a total of 20 employees were selected from the Ministry of Agriculture. Among these selected employees, 15 of them were from different directorates of the Ministry, and 5 of them were from the public Relations and Information Directorate of the Ministry. To conduct the study questionnaires were distributed and analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively, in addition in-depth interviews were conducted with staff members of the Public Relations and Information Directorate. The study showed that the Public Relations and Information Directorate of the ministry is using social media for PRs activities, but actively facebook page. The public relations through the social media is helping the ministry to announce and update the public easily without requiring too much time and money to share the updates. The challenges the ministry is facing are lack of awareness from the users including the staff members and the public, and users not sharing informations and updates for others.
