Abstract

This particular study conducted to investigate the relationship between the Supply Chain Management practices on Procurement performance in terms of three dimensions, i.e. Strategic Supplier Partnership, information sharing, and logistics integration in the Ethiopian state owned Commercial Banks and Insurance Corporation. As of data analysis and respondents, the study employed census survey and quantitatively assessed the supposed relationship between the dependent and independent variables. Questionnaire has been used as the formal instrument of data collection. A total of 48 questionnaires were distributed and 46 of them who are purchasing managers, purchasing and warehousing staffs were filled and returned to make the response rate about 95.83%. The items were measured on five point Likert scale that range from strongly disagree to strongly agree. Respondents were being requested to allocate scores for each of the items on the instrument by taking their key suppliers in mind. The findings of the study suggested that all the dimensions of the supply chain practices have statistically significant both with the compounded and individual measures of procurement performance despite the fact that the strength of the relationship is relatively higher in the case of logistic integration followed by strategic supplier partnership. The regression result also suggested that, logistic integration have significant impact on determining firms’ purchasing performance. Furthermore, It is also suggested that Ethiopian state owned Commercial Banks and Insurance Corporation shall give special emphasis in the improvement of their information sharing through communicating with their key suppliers such as sharing quality information on timely basis, keep up-to-date each other specially when changes occurring, communicate in m about how goods are made, delivered and also have to work more for promoting strong strategic partnership with adequate logistic integration as well to get enhanced procurement performance.
