| dc.description.abstract | ERP projects are complex purposes which influence main internal and external operations of companies. The success of the project directly influences the performance of the organization. Recent research has methodically collected plausible data in the field of critical success factors (CSFs) within ERP projects. The overarching objective of the study is to identify and describe the main CSFs and how they can be ranked according to the importance to success of the project. Because of the influence of CSFs to ERP-projects in general, the term “ERP project” is used in the further parts of this paper. Both primary and secondary data were used to meet the objective of the study. A total of 24 project managers and project team members were interviewed with triangulation of data from desktop sources. Data was analyzed descriptively. In terms of result, it is found out twenty critical success factors from literatures for successful implementation of ERP systems and from them the important critical factors are ranked in order of importance. Factors such as project planning and strategy, top management support, project management and leadership, capability of consultants, change management and communication, and overall knowledge transfer are among the factors identified as critical for ERP system implementation in Commercial Bank of Ethiopian.
