dc.description.abstract | This study aims to assess the level of stakeholder engagement in the local public infrastructure projects implementation decision and execution analyzing empirical cases drawn from Lega Tafo Lega DadiLega Tafo Lega Dadi Town Administration of Oromia National Regional State. A mixed research approach was employed for this study. A questionnaire was used to gather quantitative data from 48 project stakeholder respondents for analysis of their views. Also, qualitative data through the semi-structured interview from five key personnel were analyzed. The respondents were made up of professionals from the group of stakeholders who do have the legitimacy to directly engage in the implementation phase of local public infrastructure projects. The study revealed that poor local institutional/organization structure, absence of clear engagement policies and legal framework, inadequate financing of engagement of stakeholders lack of awareness of engagement, Poor local government/management skills, changes in stakeholder engagement culture, late engagement in decision-making and design stage and weak stakeholder engagement platform/tool negatively impacted the effectiveness level of the stakeholder engagement in the study area. This study recommended the local government improvements create a conducive policy environment for the effective level of engagement of stakeholders with effective engagement platform’s/tool(e.g. regular workshops, frequent meetings, feedback, etc.) and effective engagement strategies to encourage the inclusion of stakeholders during the implementation decision and execution activities in the town. | en_US |
