Abstract
This study tries to identify the practice of project procurement management in Bank of
Abyssinia .The researcher has used descriptive research method .The data collection tools
were questionnaires and interview. The sample size of the study was 27 individuals
selected through purposive sampling. The response rate was 100%.The sample size was
selected through purposive sampling and questionnaires with items of 34 were distributed
to employees who have been directly or indirectly involved in procurement practice of the
Bank’s projects. The findings of the study revealed that less consideration is given to
project schedule in procurement planning. Also make or buy analysis is not done to
determine the procurement decision. Pre meeting or bidder conference is not conducted
with vendors prior to submittal of bid or proposal. Also conducting inspection and
auditing is not commonly practiced and regular review is not carried out to evaluate
procurement performance progress of vendor. Generally, the outcome of the research
confirmed that project procurement management practice is implemented to some extent
but there is a gap between the theory of project procurement management and the actual
practices. Therefore, possible recommendations are outlined at the end of this project
work on what actions should be taken to improve this practice.
