Abstract
Job satisfaction is a backbone of any organization. Employees are an asset of an organization
needs to remain satisfied to achieve vision of the organization. The purpose of this
study is to explore factors those influence employee job satisfaction in Ethiopian Shipping
and Logistics service Enterprise and Modjo dry port. The study investigated the
management-employee relationship, work environment, compensation and benefit and
career development as the variable that cause job satisfaction or dissatisfaction.
This research is cross-sectional survey. Quantitative research design and correlation research
approach applied for this study. A self-administered questionnaire was used for
data collection from the employees of selected ESLSE and Modjo dry port different departments
using Stratified Random Sampling techniques. 297 questionnaires distributed,
all distributed questionnaire were collected and used for further analysis.
SPSS software was used to analyze the gathered data with Correlation analysis and multiple
linear regressions. The dimensions of employee satisfaction assessed through reliability
and validity tests using Cronbach’s alpha tests to confirm that the model applied
and the questionnaire design was appropriate. The result of the study showed that, strong
and significant positive association between the management-employee relationship, career
development, compensation and benefit, working environment with job satisfaction.
Therefore, it’s forwarded for the top management of the ESLSE and MDP management
body to improve the above variables in the organization.
