dc.description.abstractRecently, urban expansion is becoming problems in the sub-Saharan African countries as they are expanding without well planned urbanization. The aim of this study was to assess the impacts of urbanization on farmland in the study area. In the study area most of agricultural land has been converted to urban use and this has various implication on the farmers. Survey method of data collection through informant interviews and personal field observation was used to identify the challenges of urbanization on the farmers. Purposive sampling techniques were used. Both qualitative and qualitative method of data analysis was carried out. The finding of study indicated that before reclassification of their land the majority of the dwellers were use their land for agricultural activity. Generate high source of income from crops, fruit and vegetables. Urban expansion causes in declining of economic, social and physiological situations in the study area. Many of the farmers are not satisfied with compensation paid for them from concerned body. They are inadequate to replace their resource. Finally, the farmers have been victimized since they lost their fundamental pattern of life. Although it is impossible to stop urbanization it has to be ensured that the government should make careful planning prior to displaceen_US
