Abstract

Background – Globally, it is estimated that 20% of maternal deaths are caused by peripartum hemorrhage and anemia. Caesarean section is one of the most common operations worldwide, with rates increasing globally and is the main risk for both intraoperative and postpartum hemorrhage which pose higher maternal morbidity and mortality compared to other modes of deliveries in many developed and developing countries. Objectives – To determine the Prevalence and Factors Associated with Post Cesarean Delivery Anemia at Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Methods – Institutional based cross-sectional study was conducted at Gandhi memorial Hospital. A total of 420 mothers who underwent cesarean delivery were included in this study and using simple consecutive sampling technique, data was collected till required sample size was completed and the study was conducted from October 1st 2022 to July 31th 2023. Data were collected through both face-to-face interview and maternal chart review by using a pretested questionnaire.
