Abstract
The study attempted to assess the project communication management practices of the Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL Ethiopia). The study is a case study focusing on SIL Ethiopia, an international NGO that works on language development and translation. The study assessed the communication management practices of SIL Ethiopia by examining the activities and methods used for internal and external communication, cultural diversity and communication, communication channels, communication barriers, and project success and communication management in SIL Ethiopia. Primary data for the study was collected through questionnaires and interviews with project team members. The findings of the study indicate that communication management has a significant impact on project success and that the organization uses effective and efficient communication channels and methods. However, it was also identified by the study that some challenges and barriers in communication exist, such as geographical distance, language differences, cultural clashes, and lack of consistency and feedback. The study also provides some recommendations for improving the project communication management practices of the organization, such as providing training, standardizing communication practices, adopting new technologies, and considering local contexts and cultures.
