Item The Seasonal Occurrence of Fascioliasis and Some other Helminthic Diseases of Sfleep in Four Selected Sites in Ethiopia(Addis Ababa University, 1983-12) Lemma, Brook; Tedla, Shibrll (PhD)Ethiopia. situated in the Ilorn of Africa. shows wide variation in topography climate and land use distribution. It has a high population of livestock. However. the prevalence of a number of important diseases has impeded the rational exploitation of this resource. In recent years a nation-wide survey of livestock diseases is being conducted to identify, map infected areas and suggest appropriate measures amongst which parasitic diseases are given considerable attention. Accordingly, an investigation of the seasonal incidence of ovine helminthiasis in selected sites of various ecological zones was carried out for a period of one year to provide baseline information. Thus, the local occurrence of the Helminth of the genera of I~asic Paramphistomum, ~unostomllm., Chahert.ia, Dictyoc~. Attempts have been made to examine: - the attitude of mathematics teachers and students’ perceptions towards the current mathematics curriculum, the achievement of objectives for grade 9 and 10 mathematics syllabi and their successful implementation, and factors influencing the implementation of grade 9 and 10 mathematics curriculum. To this end, a descriptive survey approach was used as a method of this study. The data was collected from 450 sample students, 30 mathematics teachers, 5 principals’ schools, and 5 mathematics department heads selected through simple random sampling techniques. In-depth interview with principals, observation, questionnaires, and documentaries were employed to collect data for this study. The data obtained were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative analysis methods. Accordingly, the result of the study indicated that the majority of mathematics teachers did use continuous assessment techniques to evaluate their students’ performance. Significant proportion of mathematics teachers (16.7) had negative attitudes towards the implementation of the syllabus. Furthermore, the majority of the students’ perceptions towards the implementation of the syllabus were found to be very low. There was scarcity of curricula and instructional materials and shortage of time to implement the mathematics syllabus. Lack of technical and materials supports, lack of communication and low attention on the part of principals, mathematics department heads and administration were observed to be the major factors influencing the implementation of mathematics curriculum. Consequently, there is a significance difference in mathematics achievement between five government GSS students in favor of Mojo and Wonji schools students. Hence, to alleviate the problems encountered in the implementation of the syllabus, continuous teacher professional development, adequate provision of curricula and instructional materials for mathematics teachers, department heads and principals and modifying or revising or changing the mathematics syllabus according to the needs of the students and the objectives of the GSS programs after conducting on extensive national study are suggested.Item Graduate Seminar Report on Fixed Point Theorems and some Applications of the Krein-milman Theorem(Addis Ababa University, 2000-06) Mekonnen, Teffera; R.Deumlich, Prof.Dr.rer. nat. habilItem Iterated Norms in Nikol'skii-Besov spaces with Generalized Smoothness(Addis Ababa University, 2002-06) Woubante, Wondimu; Gedif, Tsegaye (PhD)Item Some Remarks on Convex Sets(Addis Ababa University, 2002-06) Yigrem, Tesfa; R.Deumlich, rer.nat.habil. In the first part, the Sobolev and Nikol Skii Besov functions spaces are investigated and some inclusion theorems are developed as well as some relations of the two function spaces are stated as a particular case. As the main objective of the seminar report we formulate the necessary and sufficient condition for the function (which is equal to the solution of the Dirichlet problem on the boundary) on the boundary of some region, for the solution of the generalized formulation of the Dirichlet problem of Laplace equaton to exist. For the classical formulation of the Dirichlet problem, we, as an assumption, take the value of the function on the boundary of some region in which the solution is defined is continuous on the boundary. But, this does not guarantee the exis tence of the solution of the problem, which is shown by Hadamard's example. Therefore, as a conclusion, we will see that the formulation of the necessary and sufficient condition for the generalized formulation of the Dirichlet problem of Laplace equaton in the second chapter of this semina r report. Before all, T thank the almighty God with out His help nothing is happened. I would like to express my special gratitude to my advisor and teacher Dr. Tsegaye Gedif for his unlimited help for the completion of this seminar report. T am really lucky for his being here with me. I would also like to thank all my teachers for their con tribution to bring me to this level. Finally, I thank my parents for all they have given me and for their prayers. Also, I would like to thank W /0 Tobiaw Tefera, for typing this manuscript partially.Item Graduate Seminar Report on Stability Problems in Mathematical Optimization(Addis Ababa University, 2002-06) Koyas, Kidane; Deumlich, R.
