    Attempts Towards the Synthesis of Substituted Pyrrolines

    In this project, the reactions of several functionalized compounds possessing the nicotine skeleton have been investigated. Studies also have been conducted on the cycloaddition reactions of C-pyridyl-h-methylnitrone with three olefinic compounds namely, allyl chloride, allyl bromide and allyl alcohol. Plausible mechanisms have been suggested for the formation of nicotine and nicotyrine by the reduction of 5-methoxycotinine and related compounds with lithium aluminum hydride.
