Item Anal Ysys of the Depiction of Mary Am and Aisha in the Holy OUR' AN and the Authentic Ahadith: a Feminist Approach(Addis Ababa University, 2009-06) Kebede, Solomon; Bantyirga, Hailom (PhD)This research aims at analyzing and showing trends of Islamic feminism. The research examines the roles played by two selected personalities in their given society and period. The ladies are selected from The Holy Qur'an and the hadith, which are the prime sources of Islam. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter tries to give information on the background of the study, its objectives and significance. The methodology used as well as the scope and limitations of the study are also described in this chapter. The next chapter is dedicated to the analysis and interpretations of Islamic feminist literary criticism. The developments and basic theories of Islamic feminism are also discussed. The third chapter focuses on the analysis and interpretation of the personalities and roles played by Maryam and Aisha in their respective societies. The last chapter is the summary and conclusion based on the analysis of the selected scriptural texts. It reiterates the core findings in a nutshell.Item Factors Affecting We red a Education Office Experts in Evaluating Community Skill Training in Selected Woredas of North Shoa Oromia' Region(Addis Ababa University, 2010-07) Kebede, Solomon; Asseffa, Messeret (PhD)The main purpose of this study was to investigate the major factors affecting experts of Woredas Education Offices to evaluate community skill training in selected of Woredas. The study was conducted at six Woredas of Education Offices and community skill training program that are found in selected North Shoa Oromia .A total number of 60 subjects were included in the study .Among these 2 female respondents, and 58 male experts were selected through availability sampling techniques respectively, the descriptive survey method was used. Interview, questionnaires, observation, discussion and documentmy analysis were used to collect the necessary data. Likert scale type was considered for expert questionnaires. Percentile and mean were employed to see percentile and mean score differences between responses .. the data collected were analyze. The results indicated that the current training status of community skill training was low concerning of the participation stockholders in supporting the program, the local communities and very few non governmental organizations were providing various types of supports to some centers. The participation of regional government Zonal Administration in the woreda education offices was very low. Shortage of Blidgets of for the centers absence of clear strategy mechanisms of management and organization monitoring and evaluation of the program and other are evidences for the less antion given to community skill training in selected woreds. The major problems that affect experts of woreda education offices were lack of financial and material resources. Further more, lack of follow up of the concerned bodies, shortage of skill manpower absences of proper planning and others. Hence it is concluded that the community skill training program in the selected areas was highly marginalized. This lead to the low participation of as a stockholders, distraction, absence of are some of the factors that affect expert to evaluate community skill training, Therefore, it is recommended that that the policy makers, educational planner and others concerned bodies should pay attention to recognize, rehabilitee and expand community skill training program in the areas. It was also intended to suggest possible solutions to the problems identified to meet local development needs, the need to establish basic technology or appropriate technology training centers.Item A Reception Study on Akababi-Ena-Lemat Environmental Radio Program: The Perspective of Agricultural College Students(Addis Ababa University, 2008-06) Kebede, Solomon; Tveiten, Oddgier (Professor); Simon, Gebremedhin (PhD)Environmental degradation - resulting mainly from the public’s low-level of awareness and usually manifested in the form of recurrent droughts - has become the major challenge to development endeavors poor countries like Ethiopia. Media outlets, in particular the radio, are crucial instruments in raising awareness of environmental issues. The purpose of this qualitative reception study on Akababi enna Lemat Environmental Radio Program was to look into the reaction of the students of Ardayeta Agricultural College on the messages of the program. It also intends to examine the effectiveness of the program. To achieve this purpose focus group discussions and in-depth interviews as well as preliminary qualitative content analysis were used as tools of data collection. The sampling technique used was mainly purposive. Four focus group sessions and in- depth interviews were conducted with thirty-four students and two journalists. Efforts are made to present the analysis thematically. Results revealed that regular, occasional and non-listeners consider Akababi enna Lemat to be a useful program that appeals to agricultural college students and farmers. Most respondents preferred to listen to the voices of laymen at grassroots rather than the case in Akababi enna Lemat radio program where experts, officials and journalists dominate. Respondents also expressed discomfort when listening to journalists and experts using newly coined Amharic terms and inserting English words. The transmission time of Akababi enna Lemat is inconvenient to the students while in college; but suitable to farmers and to these students after graduation. But all research participants have expressed concern over the limited geographical coverage of FM 97.1 channel that impedes the broader rural population from attending Akababi enna Lemat.Item Significance of Melka Kunture Prehistoric Site for Sustainable Tourism Development of Ethiopia(Addis Ababa University, 2016-11) Kebede, Solomon; Hagos, Tekle(Ato)This study documents the importance of archeological sites of Melka Kunture and its environs. To deal with this issue, the qualitative method and descriptive approaches are employed using interviews, questioners, personal observations and related literature reviews. Due to the nature of the data purposive sampling was preferred to gather data from purposely selected key informant groups to meet the objective of the study. As the result of this thesis, indicates, the possible establishment of integrated archeological and cultural sites within the proposed corridor would bring significant positive impact in the development of sustainable tourism. Among all findings, the proximity of the archeological site to the capital city, as well as the presence of closely located archeological and paleontological localities, the Open Air Museum, the natural resource sites in the wide area, as well as the flourishing living cultural qualities of the Oromo people and the natural habitat are taken as the major findings of this thesis. At present compared to many other archeological sites, Melka Kunture archeological site is considered to be in a better position. Based on its proximity to the capital city and the frequent visit by researchers from abroad this research paper thoroughly discussed issues related to the need to formulate strategies for sustainable tourism development that benefits the local community. Possibly this would help propel the development of rural tourism, cultural industry as well as preserve the indigenous heritage of the local community. The paper deals with such an institutional development in the locality would provide opportunities for local and international researcher to respond and to overcome problems associated with the absence of sustainable tourism development. Therefore, the various sections of the community, Non-Governmental Organizations and the government should properly focus on conducting critical researches, capacity building and appropriate interventions by using integrative approaches developing heritage sites to meet international standards
