Item Assessment of the Strategic Management and Organizational Performance: In the Case of Hibret Bank(Addis Ababa University, 2022-06) Wondwosen Tadesse; Abdurezak Mohammed (PhD)The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of strategic management on the organization performance of Hibret bank. Explanatory research design was applied. Secondary and Primary data was utilized in this study. Secondary data was obtained from reviewing text books, publications, financial records and internal records of Hibret bank. Primary data was gathered with the aid of questionnaires and interview. 344 questionnaires were sent to employees of the bank and 331 responses were obtained representing a response rate of 96.2%. The results of the study revealed that though the bank has well documented strategy that prepared by a foreign consultant, employees were unaware of it. The formulation and evaluation process were not participatory to stakeholders including employees and middle level managers. The accessibility of the strategy itself is managed by top managers only. Employees were only participant in the implementation of strategy. Employees and middle level managers were performing a task given by top managers. They do not have a selfinitiation to perform the strategy. From inferential analysis, all independent variables, strategy formulation, strategy implementation and strategy evaluation were positively correlated with organizational performance. Strategy Implementation (r=.219**), strategy formulation,(r=.181**) and strategy evaluation (r=.120*). The linear combination of the independent variable was significantly related to the dependent variable, R=.319a, R square=. 102 adjusted R square=.094. Strategy implementation has b value .061 (p<0.05), strategy evaluation beta value .263 p<00, strategy formulation beta value .314, P<0.01. The study recommends the bank should participant all stakeholders and create belongings of the strategy and include in all phases of the strategy formulation, implementation and evaluation. Key words: strategy formulation, implementation, evaluation and organizational performanceItem The Effect of Change Management Practice on Organizational Development: the Case of Bank of Abyssinia(Addis Ababa University, 2023-06) Daniel Tesfay; Abdurezak Mohammed (PhD)The main objective of this paper is to investigate the effect of change management practices on organizational development in the case of Bank Abyssinia. The study used quantitative research approach, both descriptive research and explanatory research design due to its intent to find the effect of the independent variables change management practices such as technological change, structural change, cultural change, strategic change, operational change and people centric change on the dependent variable organizational development. The study used both stratified & purposive sampling technique. Primary data was collected through structured questionnaires and also secondary source was collected from different company profiles, books and websites which dictate regarding the study. The study also used a cross-sectional research survey, in which data from respondents was gathered at a single point in time. In this study, a total of 344 questionnaires were provided to the respondents at the head office, three district offices, and all branches found under these districts in Addis Ababa region, and retuned with the response rate of 87%. To analyze the collected data through questionnaires from the respondents, the researcher used SPSS version 23. The researcher used descriptive statistics to describe & summarizing data and inferential statistic such as correlation analysis and multiple linear regressions analysis. Accordingly, the Pearson correlation test revealed that all the six independent variables have a positive relationship with dependent variable organizational development. The regression result confirmed that, except the cultural change management practice, all the independent variables (i.e. technological change, structural change, strategic change, operational change and people centric change) have positive and significant impact on the development of Bank of Abyssinia and this leading to increased productivity, employee satisfaction, and overall success. The ANOVA test result also confirmed that, the prediction powers of the change management components are found to be statistically significant. Overall, the research paper provides valuable insights into the role of change management practices in organizational development and emphasizes the need for businesses to prioritize effective change management strategies. Lastly, the researcher concluded that, change management is an essential aspect of the development of the bank and helps adapt to changing environments and remain competitive in the financial sector and change management practices have its own contribution in achieving the bank’s objective and goalItem The Effect of Leadership Style on Organizational Change Management: The Case of Bank of Abyssinia S.C.(Addis Ababa University, 2022-06) Christina Solomon; Abdurezak Mohammed (PhD)The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of leadership style on organizational change management: the case of Bank of Abyssinia. On the literature review, five key leadership styles (Transformational, Transactional, Authoritarian, Laissez-faire and servant leadership styles) are identified as indicators of organizational change management. The study used descriptive and explanatory research design and adopted a quantitative research approach. Data is collected through a self-administered questionnaire from a sample employees of 241, that was selected from different departments found in the head quarter of the bank using stratified sampling technique. The collected data is analyzed by using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS v25) software. The relationship between the independent variables (Leadership styles) and dependent variable (Organizational Change management) is proven by using correlation and multiple regression analysis. The finding revealed that only Transformational, Servant and Transactional leadership styles have a significant and positive effect on the organizational Change Management at Bank of Abyssinia. Following the finding the study recommended that the bank's management apply more of transformational leadership style and together with other leadership styles as needed in order to successfully manage change.
