dc.description.abstractEthiopians have been migrating outside of the country for centuries for various different reasons. Millions of Ethiopians live across the globe currently and many of these reside in Lebanon and South Africa. Most of the Ethiopians residing in Lebanon work migrated to the country illegally and serve as domestic workers with very little safeguards to their rights while most of the Ethiopians Residing in South Africa engage in the informal sector with recurring threats of Xenophobic attacks. This study thus focused on what diplomatic protection is and ought to be provided to these distressed Ethiopians through the Ethiopian Embassies in Beirut and Pretoria by using qualitative methodology to explore the problem based on the detailed literature review and the interviews conducted. The consular protection and assistance provided by these embassies was found to be very little due to many factors and settling the politics within the country, equipping the embassies with the necessary budget and well trained and diplomats with capacity as well as having distinct attachés for compliant receiving purposes is recommended.
