Relationship between level of self-esteem and vulnerability to peer-pressure among Ambo University Institute of Education and Behavioral Science students

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between level of self-esteem and vulnerability to peer-pressure among Ambo University Institute of Education and Behavioral Science students. For this purpose 244 students participated; from these 108 were males and 136 were females. In order to achieve the reseach objective quantitative research design(correlational) was employed , the data werecollected through questionnaires and analysed by the SPSS version 20 software to calculate descriptive, pearson corelation coefficient and independent sample t-test. The correlation result indicate that there is moderate and significant negative relationship between level of self-esteem and vulnerability to peer-pressure and independent sample t-test result indicate that there is no significant gender difference in level of self-esteem and vulnerability to peer-pressure. Generally, based on obtained data the conclusion is drawn and possible recommendations and suggestions were made for Ambo University Institute of Education and Behavioral Science teachers and students
