Abstract
I nventory Management is one of the most responsibilities of an operations
manager. Insufficient inventories hamper production and limits sales, where as
excessive inventories tie up cash that may be urgently needed elsewhere. It is no
surprise, then, that inventory control has been the key to the success of many
firms as well as the cause of failure of numerous others. (Monks,1989:392).
In view of the above, this paper is on 'Rubber Inventory Management'. The paper
aimed at describing the existing rubber inventory management practice of Addis
Tyre Share Company. For this purpose both primary and secondary sources of
data were utilized. The primary sources of data were collected using interview.
Due to its flexibility, the unstructured type of interview was employed. The
research is expected to provide information at least on the proportion of the total
capital invested in rubber inventory, the type of inventory control system
employed, and the contribution of this system to operation efficiency.
