Abstract
The study sought to identify and assess the quality of organizational change project practices as
well as the critical success factors for organizational change project implementation in city
government of Addis Ababa organization and restructure project office. The study adopted a
descriptive approach and utilized both qualitative and quantitative methods to collect data on
organization change project implementation practices of CGAAOSPO. Purposive sampling was
used in selecting the sample which comprised 37 target populations from different departments
within the organization. Results from the study indicated that the critical factors that contribute
to the success of an organizational change project include Clear and timely communication
throughout the project, Establishment of a change and learning culture, and setting Clear
change objective for project. Documentation and dissemination of critical success factors and
best practices in organizational change project will improve the quality of organizational change
project implementation in CGAAOSPO. The absence of a structured system of documentation of
organizational change project implementation practices within the project office has resulted in
a lack of empirical data. This research focused on the key factors and best practices that lead to
the success of organizational change project implementation in CGAAOSPO.
