Abstract
Plastic waste has become a major environmental and health concern in many parts of the world, including Woreda 7, Nifas Silk Lafto Sub-city, Addis Ababa. In this area, plastic waste is generated by households, businesses, and other entities, and it is often improperly disposed of, leading to environmental pollution and health hazards. To address this issue, this study examines the challenges and practices of plastic waste management in Woreda 7, Nifas Silk Lafto Sub-city, Addis Ababa. The study identifies various challenges, including inadequate waste collection and disposal infrastructure, low public awareness about the negative impacts of plastic waste, and inadequate policy and regulatory frameworks. The study recommends several solutions, including increasing public awareness about the importance of plastic waste management, improving waste collection and disposal infrastructure, encouraging recycling, implementing policies and regulations, and engaging stakeholders in the development and implementation of waste management strategies. These recommendations aim to mitigate the negative impact of plastic waste on the environment and human health, and to promote sustainable waste management practices in the study area. Overall, the study aims to promote sustainable waste management practices in Woreda 7, Nifas Silk Lafto Sub-city, Addis Ababa, and to mitigate the negative impact of plastic waste on the environment and human health.
