Grey water is one kind of wastewater that is characterized by medium contents of BOD, COD, Tot-N, Tot-P, suspended solids and dissolved solids. It is discharged to the environment without any treatment and significantly affects the environmental media such as soil and water. It also damage microorganism and aquatic life. Therefore, the objective of this study was to reduce the pollutant load of organic and nutrient contents from the grey water to an acceptable level by treating the wastewater using activated carbon of corn cob as an adsorbent. In this study, the effects of adsorbent particle size, adsorbent dosage, pH, adsorption time and agitated speed on the pollutant reduction were investigated in batch experiments. The influent results revealed that the COD, BOD, Tot-N, Tot-P, Turbidity and Conductivity of the grey water were concentration of 1500 mg/L, 152 mg/L, 9.73 mg/L, 15.5 mg/L, 6.64 ms/cm and 200 NTU respectively. On the other hand, the effluent results on the optimum values (pH; 6.5, activated carbon dosage; 0.35 g, time; 60 minutes) showed that the pollutant loads of grey water were reduced to 89 mg/l, 3 mg/l, 0.25 mg/l, 0.4 mg/l, 4.01 NTU and 2.24 ms/cm respectively. Consequently, the experimental results indicated that the agricultural waste corn cob has a potential to be used as an activated carbon for treatment of grey water which is safe and environmentally friendly.en_US
