dc.description.abstractDisability occurs due to natural and manmade cases, and it takes diverse dimensions viz; economic, social, religious and cultural, which makes complex, strives for lasting solution. A plainly instance in this case is the challenge that women with disability faces in their endeavor to get job. In principle, as they are part and parcel of their community, they should have to get a special care and attention from the government, nongovernmental organization and the society too. However, even if attempts were made to address their needs and wants by the government and other concerned bodies, it is not as such satisfactory. Subsequently, cognizant of the problem, this paper aspires to explore the situation of women with disabilities in terms of the challenges they face and the institutional opportunity and the coping mechanisms, in woreda 03, Gulale sub-city, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Both primary and secondary data were employed in this study. The methods used to collect primary data include: interview, focus group discussion, observation and case study. Informants were selected by purposive, snowball and opportunity-based sampling techniques based on variables: education, occupation and marital status and a total of 47 informants participated in the study. Findings of the study revealed there is lack of coordination among stakeholders, those who deal with the problem of WWDs jobseekers, lack of proper documentation, planning and effective implementation of the constitutional rights and legal frameworks, and conventions which related with WWDs, financial shortage, problem of production and display shades, and lastly, negative attitude of the community towards WWDs that became an obstacle in their strive to self-reliance. Since, the issues of WWDs is the concern of both the federal and regional governments, and nongovernmental organizations , thus, the concerted effort of these bodies is crucial so as to alleviate the predicaments that WWDs face in the study area.en_US
