The variational formulation of boundary value problems is valuable in providing remarkably easy computational algorithms as well as an alternative framework with which to prove existence results. It is given that the conditions which guarantee that a given BVP can be reformulated in variational form. It is also shown that by applying the Lax-milgram theorem the existence and uniqueness of solution for the variational problem is proved.en_US
