dc.description.abstractThe study aimed to assess perception and attitude of students with disabilities about physical education. The participants of this study were comprised of 4 Physical Education teachers and 85 students without disabilities and 25 students with disabilities from Silite Zone selected high schools. The study employed Quantitative& Qualitative research design and used three research tools: Questionnaire, field observation and interview to collect the data that were analyzed, Frequencies percentage was employed. The finding of the study showed that: students with disabilities have low perception about physical education. Because the majority of students with disabilities did not participate in physical activities due to the factor that lack of knowledge, self perception and attitude of physical education teacher. A teacher attitude to teach students with and without disabilities in physical education class was found to be negative. The results from non-disabled student is: lack of knowledge about benefit of PE and physical education teachers’ attention for teaching physical education properly is a major factor for negative attitude of physical education. Based on the findings and conclusion, the following recommendation were forwarded: there is a need to give up grading for physical education teachers ,guide lines for physical education teachers of students with disabilities would be useful, curriculum should be inclusive, subject specialists and officials at higher level should work collaboratively with special need professionals for PE learning of students with disabilities, physical education teachers should plan for engagement of students with disabilities in physical activities, teacher should consider encouragement and support during physical activities and should consider ways to allow socialization among students during physical education & activity.
