| dc.description.abstract | Now a day’s corruption is a hot spot and public issue in any government institution. It became a major concern for economic, social and political development nationally and globally. The effect of corruption in Ethiopia has manifested in different sectors including in the housing projects. It creates project delay, poor quality and overrun cost. Corruption is still a persistent and public complain issue in housing projects especially project run by federal government in Addis Ababa. Therefore, the main purpose of this study was to assess the main corruption challenges (offenses) manifested in housing project. It also conducted to identify the major causes of corruption and the level of effort of different stakeholders in tackling the problem. Based on this aim, data was collected through questionnaire and interview from three stakeholder’s cluster groups, 10 institutions and.155 respondents, which was selected, based on purposive sampling method. The data collected was coded, analyzed and interpreted and the result shows that collusion among contractors and consultants, substructure and underground bulk excavation, procurement rigging, bribe for low quality supply etc are the main corruption offenses happened in housing projects. Poor accountability, poor controlling and monitoring system, poor ethical behavior of contractors and consultants etc are identified as the main cause of corruption in housing projects. Consequently, implementing strong accountability, strengthen auditing and controlling system, improving working procedure, giving deep training on ethics and anti corrutption etc are recommended as remedy to solve the problem in housing projects | en_US |
