dc.description.abstractThe aim of the study is to measure the extent of export instability for Ethiopia and the Sudan . Various statistical methods of measur in g export instability have been investigated . The data were collected from United Nations reports. Di re ction of Trade Stat istics and International Financial Statistics (year book) for the years 1960 to 1989 . Four different statistical methods of export instability namely, graphical , coefficient of variation, turning point test) indices derived from re gress ion estimate of various functional form have been applied. Also t he Box - Jenkins models have been usact. Based on computed results " some conclusions are made . The results suggest that the four methods showed similar and consistent results . The overall conclusion shows that export instability during the 1980 ' s was higher than pre 1980en_US
