Abstract
The primary objective of this thesis is to perform comparative analysis on hotel management response towards the effects of Covid-19 on hotel marketing in Addis Ababa. Among the nine five-star hotels in Addis Ababa, my research work is conducted on two hotels: one international chain hotel (Radisson Blu Hotel) and one local international hotel (Elilly International Hotel). The two hotels are located at ideal place, kazanchis business district adjacent to UNECA. Radisson Blu hotel was opened in 2012 in Addis Ababa at Kazanchis business district with a room capacity of 212 and other facilities like, restaurant, bar, coffee shop, conference & events, gym, and spa services. It was the third international chain brand to be opened after Hilton and Sheraton hotels. Elilly international hotel was opened in 2013 as a five-star local brand international hotel and among the first local five-star hotels with a capacity of 152 rooms in its twin towers and giving other similar facilities with Radisson except that Elilly has swimming pool services. For the purpose of the study, the data was collected from management team of the two hotels: 24 from Radisson and 21 from Elilly through self-administered questionnaire using non probabilistic purposive sampling design. In addition, a semi structured interview was performed with identified Managers of both hotels. The research work result indicates that Radisson hotel management team strongly agree on the measures taken to respond and recover while Elilly hotels management responded that they agree on the responses
