Abstract
The research was carried out to determine the project management maturity level of the Federal Government Buildings Construction Project Office and identify its weakness and strengths. Primary data were collected using survey questionnaire and unstructured interviews with the selected members of the project office. The PM Solutions' project management maturity model is used to level the maturity of the project management of the office. Based on the findings, the Project Office's project management maturity level is identified to be level 2 which indicate that the basic project management processes and documentation exist in the project office, but they are not considered as an organizational standard. There are basic metrics to track project cost, schedule, and technical performance. The office lacks project management professionals and training opportunities are limited. Management supports the implementation of project management, but there is neither consistent understanding, involvement, nor the organizational mandate to comply for all projects. With this consideration, it is recommended that the project office needs to make more efforts to enhance its maturity level by establishing tailorable organizational standards and institutionalized processes for all project management processes. The project office needs to be equipped with project management professionals and consistent trainings in project management knowledge areas and their application must be provided to project team members. Continuous improvement based on lesson learned needs to be encouraged. In addition, improving management oversight, integrating project management processes, ensuring the establishment of effective risk management standards and project quality assurance mechanisms, and implementing all-inclusive monitoring and evaluation system are necessary.
