This study was undertaken to determine the effect of the family members' role on family controlled firm performance and nonfamily workers' turnover using Anemaw Alemu Business Group as a case study. The study assessed the role of family members to business performance, the effect of the role of family members on nonfamily workers and the primary reasons for turnover of nonfamily workers; and measured the net effect (positive or negative) of all these three on the organization performance. The study adopted a quantitative research design and randomly selected 154 respondents out of the 250 employees, questionnaire was distributed and only 150 were properly returned. The response rate of the study was 97%. Descriptive analysis showed that family members' role has a positive effect, correlation analysis also shows a positive relationship between turnover of nonfamily worker and firm performance and the result of regression analysis also shows that all the independent variables had a high contribution to the dependent variable (firm performance). From the findings of the study recommendations, conclusions and suggestions are provided.
