Abstract

Logistics is a process that prepares, implements, and controls the efficient, effective forward and reverses flow and storage of goods, services, and related information between the point of origin and the site of consumption to meet consumers' needs. The main purpose of this study was to Assessing Transportation Choices and itsimpact on Logistics performance in the Case of Pave Logistics Company Addis Ababa. The study utilized mainly quantitative data analysis techniques. Descriptive statistics such as mean, percentage and frequency tables were used to describe the data. From the total population of 252 employess153samples were used by using availability sampling technics. Inferential statistics such as ordered logit model were employed in order to answers the basic question and answer the research question respectively. The study incorporate 6 independent variables in which all of them was measured on a 5-point Likert-Scale, with “1” stands for “Strongly disagree” and “5” stands for “Strongly Agree”. Apparently, mean was used as a measure of central tendency. Furthermore, the data were encoded, processed and analyzed using SPSS.V20. Moreover the correlation analysis shows that performance has a positive and significant relationship with all variables these are the cost of service, nature of commodity, regularity, speed, safety, and security and flexibility hence all variables are the significant factors in other logistics services as well. Regarding the regression analysis, some of the coefficients are having a positive meaning that change in any one of the independent factors affects the performance in the same direction except speed, flexibility and safety, and security. Overall, the consistency of regression coefficients on the selected area suggests that these variables are important indicators for affecting the performance of transportation choice at pave logistics service to different degrees and some of the independent variables were significant predictors of performance efficiency and effectiveness. In general the study concludes that the transportation choice and performance of Pave logistic service are found in a good manner with exception of those variables that are not significant in the study. Key words: Logistics, Transportation choice
