dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this s tudy was to investigate re lationsh ip between L2 lea rning achievement a nd the vocabula ry learning strategies. To this end, fifteen high and fifteen low ach ievers of grade 10 students were selected in New Era Public School based on their firsl semester performance. A questionnaire was designed to gather dala 0 ,1 their vocabulary learning strategies. Interviews were a lso cond ucted. -T-les t and dcscripliv(' -sl-atistics were u sed to analyze the data. Based on the data, it was found out that the re was no sirn ifi cant difference betw( cn high und low achievers in use vocabulary learning strategies. Only s li gh t diffcrenccs were observed in frequency u se of the strategies; high achievers tend to use vocabulary learning strategies more often than low achievcrs. In planning and memory s trategies both groups seem u se the strategies s imilarly. Based on these findings conclusion and recommendations were forwarded , with reference to the theoretical aspects in the lite ra ture.en_US
