Logistics services are closely linked with the value chain and export trade of sesame. Ethiopian logistics system is characterized with poor management, lack of coordination, low level of infrastructures and inadequate freight vehicles that exacerbate quality deterioration, damage of goods and excessive operation costs. The overall objective of this research is to examine how the access and delivery of logistics services in Ethiopia has affected the export performance of Sesame in the period 2003-2009 E.C. The primary data were collected from 41 Sesame exporters and 38 suppliers by using questionnaires and checklist; and the secondary data were collected from different government institution like Ministry of Trade, Ethiopian Commodity Exchange, Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Enterprise, Ethiopian Revenue and Customs Authority and Central Statistics Agency). As a methodology for data analysis Descriptive Statistics and Multiple Regression were employed. The study conceptualizes and develops results based on three dimensions of logistics services, such as transport service, warehouse service and custom service. The finding of the study signifies that the efficiency, cost, capacity and quality of transport service, custom service and Ethiopian Commodity Exchange warehouse service have significant effect on the country’s Sesame export performance, which can be improved by improving the number and capacity of vehicles serving in the value chain of sesame, through facilitating import of suitable vehicles either by the private or public sector; improve the quality of transport infrastructure; improve custom services by decreasing extra costs, wastage of time and inefficiency of custom services and in the other way round by improving the number, access, facility and quality of sesame warehouses in all potential sesame producing regionsen_US
