dc.description.abstractThe issue of employee turnover is among the basic managerial decision area, as employees constitute the cornerstone of an organization. Thus, the theme of this project is to investigate the nature and extent of employee turnover in case of academic staff of Addis Ababa University, considering the department, professional rank, gender, and seniority of an employee. To collect data for the study, questionnaire was designed and distributed to department heads, and secondary data source for the period covering 2005/6- 2008/9 GC was reviewed, and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The result indicates that in Addis Ababa University, academic staff with a rank of lecturers and female academic staff left the university more frequently during the past five years. Thus the responsible body may find these findings worthwhile for corrective action.en_US
