Abstract

Organizations are increasingly recognizing and emphasizing the value of project management practices also outline the effect of each project management practice on the success of projects. Meanwhile, there is a lot of knowledge and practical gap on project management practice. Therefore, this study aims to find the knowledge gaps that must be filled regarding to the role of project management practices on projects that are conducted in the financial sector by investigating the level of project management practice that is implemented in Nib international bank core banking upgrading project. The design used for the research was a descriptive research which utilized a questionnaire as a means of obtaining primary data. In this research a total of 30 questionnaires were distributed to project team members and 29 responses were collected for analysis. Also focus group discussion was held with the project manager and project coordinator. The collected data was analyzed quantitatively using descriptive statics method in SPSS and the interview part was analyzed manually by collecting main points that was raised in the discussion. Overall, the finding of the study revealed that the implementation of project planning and project execution practice is low. It is recommended that there should be effective application of project planning and execution process in the core banking upgrading project.
