Abstract
In this work, the consumer protection scheme under Ethiopian e-commerce law is examined to
determine whether it requires improvements to enhance e-consumers’ protection. In doing so,
apart from consulting electronic libraries, the ETP and related laws and preparatory documents
for the laws as well as secondary sources, the EU, OECD and SAECETA models are reviewed in
context. Accordingly, the finding reveals that Ethiopia’s e-commerce law demands
improvements in terms of protection mechanisms ranging from defining the nature, scope and
effects of consumer transactions and parties to e-consumer contracts through forms of protection
to enforcement of e-consumer rights.
