dc.description.abstract | The main purpose of this study was to assess the contribution of PTA in promoting school-community relation in some selected secondary schools, North Shoa zone, Amhara region. The study employed descriptive survey design and a mixed method approach to collect and analyze data. Participants of the study involved 189 from eight secondary schools. Samples of study schools, teachers and student council participants were selected by using simple random sampling and PTA members and school leaders were also selected by purposive sampling techniques. The instruments for data collection were questionnaire, focus group discussion and document. The finding of this study indicated that the participation of PTA members from their regular and fund raising activities were good among others achievements. Communication was to same extent show improvement, while instructional program was found to be low in most sampled secondary schools. Parent Teacher Association participation achievement data showed that, their contribution in fund raising from various sources to support the school were to be found good. On the contrary, students performance and discipline were found to be low. Thirdly, the findings of the study identified the basic factors that affect Parent Teacher Association contribution were encountered PTA members, teachers and school principal related. Finally, to minimize and solve the identified problems, the Woreda education office or principals and supervisors need to give continuous follow up and training on duties and responsibilities to the Parent Teacher Association members. | en_US |
