Abstract

The aim of conducting this research was to determine the influence of strategic management practices on the organizational performance of Ethiopian Airlines. To carry out this research the researcher has adopted a survey research design to determine the influence of strategic management practices (strategy formulation, strategy implementation and strategy evaluation) on organizational performance. The target population of this study was 377. A self-administered questionnaire was designed to collect relevant information from the selected 191 respondents. Among this 177 questionnaires were returned. 172 questionnaires were analyzed using Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) while 5 incomplete questionnaires were rejected. Stratified random sampling technique was applied and data were collected from 172 managing directors, directors and managers through structured questionnaire using 5-point Likert scale. The primary data have been edited, classified, organized and coded to get descriptive and inferential statistics outputs using SPSS professional software. The percentage, mean and standard deviation of descriptive analysis were employed. Regression analysis was done to determine the influence of strategy formulation, strategy implementation and strategy evaluation on organizational performance and correlation analysis was also used to determine the relationship between these variables. The investigation brought out that there was significant and positive relationship between strategic management practices and organizational performance in Ethiopian Airlines. Furthermore, strategy makings have a positive and statistically significant influence on organizational performance of Ethiopian Airlines. The study revealed that strategic management practices (practices of strategy formulation, strategy implementation and strategy evaluation) are a good predictor of the organizational performance of Ethiopian Airlines. Based on the summary of key data findings with respect to the objectives of the study, conclusions were drawn and appropriate recommendations along with suggestion for further studies were forwarded.
