Abstract
Over the course of the long history of Islam in Ethiopia many Ethiopian Muslim
scholars wrote the biography (Sfrah) of the Prophet MuQammad. Among these is
Sayb Badr ai-Din of Qabena (1923 -1989). Sayb Badr ai-Din, using many
books as references, wrote six Arabic works on different topics, mostly
theological. This thesis catalogues these works, and gives a close analysis of his
Sfrah manuscript. One major concern of this analysis is to find out the trust
worthiness of Sayb Badr aI-DIn's biographical account according to early and
modern Sfrah works.
