Abstract
This study was conducted with an objective of identifying the effect of supply chainmanagement practices on sustainable tourism development in the case of Addis Ababa star
rated hotels. Supply chain management has become a valuable way of securing competitiveadvantage to the specific firm and beyond since competition is no longer between
organizations, but among supply chains. This research conceptualizes and develops fourdimensions of supply chain practices, which are strategic supplier partnership, customer
relationship, information sharing, and supply chain integration and check the relationshipswith sustainable tourism development. The researcher used descriptive and explanatory
research design. The data for the study was collected from 204 employees working on theselected star rated hotels in Addis Ababa. These hotels are a member of Addis Ababa Hotel
owners Association that ranges from three to five star grading. The analysis is done by usingSPSS Software version 26. From the result of the analysis it is concluded that there is a strong
relationship between supply chain management practices and sustainable tourismdevelopment because some of the SCM practices have shown a positive and significant effect
on tourism, however further study is recommended by including additional SCP elements andsample to make a strong conclusion. Therefore, in order to achieve long-term development of
the sector hotels have to give due emphasis to the constructs of supply chain managementpractices. This study contributes to the knowledge and supply chain practices of the hospitality
and tourism sector. The paper concludes with recommendations for implementation and
future research on the issue selected.
