dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to assess the practices and challenges of public property management in Oromia Regional State in the case of Oromia Supreme Court. The study employed descriptive survey design and involves both quantitative and qualitative data gathering tools. Data were collected from 102 line and supportive staff of Oromia Supreme Court. In addition 5(five) Federal and Regional government heads who are delegated to manage and control procurement and property administration area were interviewed. Judgmental sampling techniques were used for distribution of questionnaires and purposive sampling techniques were employed to conduct interviews. In addition to primary data, secondary data were used. The study showed problems to understanding and enforcing rules and regulations, problems to arranging organizational structure with team and team coordinator, lack of positioning professionals, problems to need based planning, weak handling and disposing of property. The researcher has recommended fully enforce rules and regulations, should organize the staff with team and team coordinator, use professionals, and experienced work force, should apply asset management plan, standard storage, modern property handling and disposing methods, capacity building and establishing technology based property data management system were recommended.en_US
