The purpose of the study was to examine factors influencing police employees’ motivation and its impacts on police employees’ performance in the case of the federal police, Addis Ababa. The research is a mixed (quantitative and qualitative) design research approach. Data were collected from 306 (206 males and 50 females) randomly selected police employees. However, there was a significant difference on the police employee level of motivation among age groups, rank, educational level, and years of work experience. The study further showed the presence of a significant relationship between intrinsic motivational factors (i.e. recognition, promotion, achievements, satisfaction, and responsibility), and extrinsic motivational factors (i.e. Payment, Leadership, Work environment, Interpersonal relationship, and Job security).
