dc.description.abstractPrior research has shown that right-of-way acquisition is critical to the performance of road projects. The current research study designed to check the effect of right-of-way acquisition on performance of road projects under lemi-kura sub city. The study points out different RoW acquisition variables and examines their effect on the performance of road projects. To achieve the study objective, Descriptive and Explanatory research design along with quantitative approach was employed. The quantitative data was analyzed by using suitable methods of descriptive, correlation and regression analysis using SPSS version 26 tool.To address the objective of the study a five-point Likert scale survey questionnaire was distributed to 67 governmental staff and had 97% response rate, Census inquiry was used to choose respondents from various government organizations who participated in five different projects under Lemi-Kura sub city. The major findings of the study revealed that there was poor RoW acquisition performance in road projects and as a result the performance of road projects was affected To be more successful in RoW acquisition related projects, the study recommends that the organization must focus On participating the public in the right-of-way acquisition process, increasing agencies capabilities to perform RoW acquisition, and lowering barriers related to property management(demolishing) and relocation(resettlement).en_US
