dc.description.abstractThis study is conducted with ultimate objective of exploring factors that affect hurdle performance. Four sample first division athletics clubs were selected, from six Addis Ababa first division athletics clubs,(Maremia betoch ,Fedral Police, Defense and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia) Comprehensive sampling technique. Thus, the subjects in the study were 31athlets, 4 coaches, and 4 administrative staff. In this study descriptive survey method was employed. Questionnaire was dominantly used as data collection instrument; unstructured interview and observation were also used in the process. The data gathered through questionnaires were analyzed by using frequency counts and their percentages; whereas the data gathered through interview and observation were analyzed. From the data analysis, the major findings obtained were: - There were less communications between the athletes and coaches. Because athletes attitude towards the coach was very low, the support that the clubs were inadequate, from the finding the major problems of hurdle race were lack of scientific method of training and ignorant to the methodology of coaching, As well as the quality and quantity of training track, Lack of qualified coaches, Injuries in relation to training and lack of psychological skill training, the interest of the athletes and the coaches were very low, motivation of the athletes themselves and coaches to motivate the athletes were less and total benefits (food and drink, pocket money, sport wear, reward and monthly payment) of the athletes as well as coaches were unsatisfactoryen_US
