dc.description.abstractThe objective of this thesis is to assess the supply chain performance of Amref health Africa in Ethiopia. Humanitarian supply chain is a backbone of any humanitarian program achievement and play a vital role in interpretation of their plan into actions by delivering goods and services for the needy. And, to ensure the sustainability of the supply chain service provision measuring its performance is inevitable. Among many researches that has been done in relation with assessing of the supply chain performance management most of them focused on commercial SC instead of Humanitarian supply chain management. Therefore, this research deals with a humanitarian SC performance of Amref health Africa in Ethiopia one of a humanitarian development aid organization. The study employed descriptive and explanatory quantitative research methodology, 124 respondents selected out of the total population using census method and data was collected through structured questionnaire and was analyzed using SPSS version 22.00 through application of descriptive statistics. The pilot discussion carried out prior to the study with the respected SC officers helped the researcher to decide and select the supply chain drivers which specifically implemented by Amref. And based on this the researcher identified procurement, warehouse, fleet /Transport/ and Information & communication as the major supply chain drivers. Next to this examined the supply chain performance of the organization by aligning each SC driver against the three supply chain performance indicators; reliability, flexibility and responsiveness. Then try to identify internal and external supply chain factors that affects the supply chain performance of Amref. And also analyzed the performance assessment by combining with internal & external factors and also their effects on the performance. Finally, this study has come up with result of performance indicators, major findings related with the internal and external factors and their effects on the supply chain performance: for the supply chain performance indicators flexibility, reliability and responsiveness has scored from top to bottom and for the internal & external factors; infrastructural factor, socio-economic, governmental and organizational internal factors. The study recommended solutions for the mitigation and minimization of an internal and external factors in a way they can contribute for the improvement of reliability, flexibility and responsiveness of the total supply chain performance.en_US
