dc.description.abstractThe researcher sought to explore the effect of family background and home environment on Academic Performance of students in some selected primary schools in Bole sub-city, Addis Ababa Ethiopia. The research was intended to achieve three specific objectives which are stated as follow; Primarily, to assess the relation between parental income and academic performance of primary school students, secondly to determine the effect of parental educational background on primary school students academic performance and finally to investigate how home environment affect student’s academic performance. The survey participants were 212 students as well as their parents from the three governmental elementary schools. The research used questionnaire as a method of data collection. The collected Data were analyzed by descriptive statistical methods and Multiple Regression. The study discovered a positive and statistically significant correlation between parental education, income level and home environment and their children’s academic achievement.
