| dc.description.abstract | Climate change is a global phenomenon rapidly emerging as one of the most serious threats that humanity ever faces. Its impact on developing countries with limited adaptive capacity has become a pressing issue as it highly affects the performance of agricultural production and food security. This study was designed to examine the situations of climate variability and its implications to food security. To achieve the stated purpose, the researcher used explanatory research design. It is based on analysis of data collected from 354 randomly selected household farmers and all 6 agriculture experts were included from 6 agriculture experts and decade’s document analysis from NMA. Frequency and percentage are in this study. The data collection instrument was questionnaire from 354 farmers; key informant interview used to analyze farmers’ perception and adaptation to climate change whereas standard anomaly is applied to analyze Climate trends and Variability. The results indicated that both maximum and minimum temperature has been increasing and rainfall had a fluctuating trend during the last three decades and it impacts on agricultural production and food security. The majority of the participants were perceived there was climate change. However the adaptation mechanisms was low and vary from individual to individuals; because of this almost 88 % of the farmers were not secure their household food security. Eventually, it is recommended that the government, agriculture experts and farmers should Promoting farm-level climate change adaptation mechanism to increase the household food security. | en_US |
