| dc.description.abstract | The grammatical feature of the verb morphology of the Gaamo language has not been documented; so, the objective of this paper is documenting and describing part of the structure of the language. In order to achieve the objective, the first being data collection (by recording various genres such likes narrative, folktales, proverbs) , transcription and translation of primary data by using different relevant software and the second, descriptive analysis of these data. As a result of this documentation, seventeen fol ktales, twenty proverbs and two narrations about the history of the people and the place have been gathered in audio form. From those collected data, seven fo lktales have been annotated. In the description of the language, it has been found out that, Gaamo verbs are inflected for agreement, aspect, mood, negation, and infinitive forms. Grammatical categories marked by infixing or suffixing a morpheme to the base form. Another feature is; sometimes a single morphological representation contains more grammatical information. Verbs in flect to mark mood types such as, Imperative, prohibitive, jussive and interrogative form. Negation is also a feature in which verbs inflected to mark; and infinitive form of the verb is formed by suffixing a morpheme. | en_US |
