| dc.description.abstract | In this study all species of Senecio or.curing in Ethiopia are treated. A historical survey of the genus with some emphasis on taxa occuring in Ethiopia is given. The morphology of all - species, pollen features of eight species and the anatomy of two species are discussed. A phytogeographical grouping of all species is made and their distribution mapped (except for s. subsessi1is Oliv & Hiern, s. ruwenzoriensis S. Moore and S. macrog1ossus DC). Twenty-five species are recognized and keys on floral and vegetative characters ar given. Two species, viz. S. ruwenzoriensis S. Moore and S. macrog1ossus DC are reported in Ethiopia for the first time. A new variety S. schultzii Hochst. ex A. Rich var. 1anatus Mesfin & Otieno is described. | en_US |
